As many Pinewood students know, junior Michael Bodine is a man of many talents. He is a skilled cross country and track and field runner who also partakes in a rigorous academic curriculum. But Bodine also pursues more personal extracurriculars. Eight years ago, Bodine began playing the piano and fell in love with it. He learned to play from two different teachers when he was eight, and hasn’t stopped since. While many pianists who have played piano
for this long participate in recitals or compete in piano competitions, Bodine simply plays for his own personal enjoyment. His favorite song to play is “Liz on Top of the World” from the movie “Pride and Prejudice.”
“I hated piano for two years in junior high because I felt like I was making no progress,” Bodine said.
However, he stuck with the hobby, and he’s glad he did. Now that he’s a junior, he enjoys playing — even just for himself — and plans on continuing for as long as he can.
