Coachella is an annual music festival held in Indio, Cal. that attracts people and artists from all over the world. Future, Radiohead, and Lorde all performed at this highly anticipated event. The event is located in a huge polo field that has the ability to hold thousands of people, hundreds of food trucks, art installations, and an infamous ferris wheel. Glorified in Instagram posts by celebrities such as Kylie Jenner and Selena Gomez, teenagers and young adults alike covet a ticket to this exclusive event each spring. Radiohead, Kendrick Lamar, and Lady Gaga were chosen to be the main performers. Beyoncé, who was rumored to be a headliner at Coachella earlier, had to pull out due to her pregnancy; in my opinion, having Lady Gaga replace her was a decent choice, but I wish they had found someone better like Justin Bieber or Drake. I love Lady Gaga and her music, but she doesn’t have enough great hits to make an impression at Coachella like Beyoncé would have.
Radiohead published their album in late 2016 called “A Moon Shaped Pool,” and Lady Gaga also released her album called “Joanne” in mid-2016. At Kendrick Lamar’s performance, he debuted songs from his latest album called “DAMN”, which fans seemed to love. Lady Gaga also introduced her new single that hadn’t been released yet.
These artists, whose new releases have dominated the top charts, were carefully selected to headline each day at Coachella. Arriving on the scene, visitors are welcomed with blaring loud music, and people dance freely and carelessly. It is a place for those who love music, dancing, and unforgettable memories.
Whether your favorite genre is country, hip-hop, or pop, Coachella showcases talented artists from every genre and generation. Legends like AC/DC and Paul McCartney have performed, as well as new artists like Calvin Harris, Tove Lo, and DJ Khaled. Most of the time, you can also find performances from lesser known artists that will blow you away and may even end up being the best performances to see. This year, Radiohead brought their own equipment which ended up failing a couple times, and they had to go off stage; this really ruined the vibe of the set and the concert overall, but Tove Lo, who was a regular performer, ended up being a more popular and exciting experience.
This three-day extravaganza seems too good to be true, but I definitely plan to go in the future. Creating memories with your friends and connecting with others over music is like nothing else and can bring a great sense of happiness into your life.
If you like going to concerts or listening to music, I highly recommend putting Coachella on your bucket list.
