Coachella is a renowned music festival where people travel from around the globe to Palm Springs, California to get a glimpse of the sunny polo field full of talented artists, beautiful artwork, delicious food, and blazing sunsets. Some of the headliners of Coachella 2018 were Eminem, Beyoncé, and The Weeknd. The artists played in six tents, or stages, throughout the festival. There are two weekends that people can go, so if you don’t get a chance to go the first weekend, there is no need to worry. An array of music genres and artists performs at Coachella, including Post Malone, Louis the Child, Blackbear, SZA, Alison Wonderland, Migos, MO, and more. Even with the hot sun glaring down at me and the crowds of thousands of people pushing to get to the front, my experience at Coachella was life-changing.
This year was the first time I had been to Coachella, and I never realized how amazing the experience would be. My whole life, I have loved going to concerts to sing along to the songs of my favorite artists, dance with my friends, and connect with others through the art of music, so I was ecstatic that I got to attend one of the best festivals in the world.
Arriving at the VIP entrance of Coachella, I was struck by the multicolored lights, towering palm trees, open land, well-dressed people, and trendy decorations. Balloons and twinkling lights were hung up to decorate the sky. Food stands selling açaí bowls, pizza, coconuts, and vegan food were met with winding lines. I saw multiple artists, but Kygo, The Weeknd, Petit Biscuit, Louis the Child, and Post Malone were my personal favorites. Beyoncé and Eminem also had legendary performances. The electronic performances by Kygo, Petit Biscuit, and Louis the Child, encouraged almost everyone to dance –– you can’t escape that beat and exciting energy.
With the sun setting in the back of the stage and my friends and I singing the words to some of our favorite songs, I felt like I was in a dream. Beyoncé’s performance surpassed my expectations, with her bringing out a band, Destiny’s Child, and Jay-Z as guests. Her entire set kept me on the edge of my seat. She sang hits like “Crazy in Love,” “Single Ladies,” and newer singles such as “Lemonade” and “Drunk in Love.” Coachella was a once-in-a-lifetime experience I will always remember. If you are a music fanatic like me and love to be in the sunshine, I could not recommend an experience more.
