The athlete of the month for girl’s varsity volleyball is junior Maddi Escher. She has been crucial in helping the girls to their two wins. Almost all of Escher’s stats are well above the national average. In this month she has a 0.106 hitting percentage, eight aces, and thirteen kills, which are equivalent to 0.8 aces and 1.3 kills a set. The athlete of the month for cross country is senior Michael Bodine. One of the best runners Pinewood has ever had, Bodine hopes to come out strong in cross country’s young season.
“[Michael is] an extremely physically gifted runner [and is] becoming a better leader within the group,” said coach Sam Stewart. Bodine dominated the competition last year, and is expected to do so this year as well.
