Dear Audrey,

No matter what I do, I always have irritated skin. Dry skin and acne always plague my face. Do you have any tips for getting clear skin?

Please help!

Yours truly,

Pimply and Perplexed

Dear Pimply and Perplexed,

Keeping your skin clean, clear, and healthy is difficult. Here are some tips to achieve clearer skin. First, wash your face with Cetaphil every morning and night, and again after a hard workout. Cetaphil is good for your skin because it doesn’t dry it out, takes the makeup off, and gets all of the oils and chemicals from the day off of your face.

No matter what you do, do not touch your skin! The oils and dirt from your hands can transfer to your skin and make your skin more irritated.

Girls, remember to take off your makeup and wash your face before you go to bed or this can cause a loss of eyelashes and bad skin. If you leave mascara on your eyelashes, it shrivels them up and dries them out, so they are shorter and not as healthy.

If you have dry skin, use CeraVe or Elta MD. Elta MD has SPF (sunscreen) in it, which helps keep your skin moisturized and safe from the sun’s rays. If your skin gets irritated, ask your dermatologist for a prescription.

There are many homemade recipes for clear skin, but most of them are ineffective. This is why you have to be careful about which ones you decide to use.

However, if you research why the chemicals will help on your face and find good reviews, it is likely a trustable treatment.

To make your eyelashes longer, put aquaphor on your eyelashes before you go to bed every night to moisturize.

To help your eyelashes grow, use this serum: mix 1/2 tsp of Vitamin E, 1/2 tsp of black castor oil, and aloe vera together, and put this on before you go to bed every night. Soon, your eyelashes will be longer and growing faster.

In this serum, Vitamin E repairs damaged hair follicles and encourages hair growth; fatty acids and vitamins in the castor oil help the eyelashes grow long and strong; aloe vera moisturizes and makes the lashes stronger and thicker.

Before trying this every night, make sure to test it on some of your lashes in case you are allergic to any of the ingredients.

If you use these tips, I promise you will be happy with your skin and lashes.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cutler
